This is a great question and often the first question customers ask when they first call in. The answer is not a simple one. There are many factors that can affect the price of how much an emergency tarp costs:

  • How tall is the building?
  • How steep is the roof?
  • What is the temperature outside?
  • Are you calling outside of normal business hours?
  • Is it currently raining or snowing?

The level of importance depends on if your roof is currently leaking. If you can see any new water spots on your ceiling or older spots getting bigger when it rains, then it is very important that you get a tarp done before the next rain. If you have no leaking then it is not critical that you have your roof tarped. If you are not sure then call a qualified roofing company and ask them to come determine if a tarp is needed.

The biggest benefit of Emergency Tarping is mitigation of further damage. Most homeowners are responsible, per their insurance policy, to take reasonable measures to stop further damage from occurring. If you have a roof leak, a tree hit your roof, etc, then one of the best mitigation practices is having a tarp put over the damaged area to ensure no more damage occurs.
